Ko­di­aks bas­ket­ball teams bounce back

The Leth­bridge Ko­di­aks men’s bas­ket­ball team re­bounded in a big way.

The Ko­di­aks downed the Cal­gary St. Mary’s Light­ning 92-72 in Al­berta Col­leges Ath­letic Con­fer­ence play Satur­day night at the Val Mat­teotti Gym­na­sium at Leth­bridge Col­lege.

The win avenges a 66-63 loss to the Light­ning Fri­day in Cal­gary and im­proves the Ko­di­aks to 8-4 and into a three-way tie in the ACAC South Divi­sion with the Medicine Hat Rattlers (8-5) and the Am­brose Li­ons (8-5).

On the women’s side, the Ko­di­aks also earned a home win courtesy a 67-64 over­time win over St. Mary’s that also se­cures a 1-1 week­end af­ter a 74-52 loss Fri­day in Cal­gary. The Ko­diak women snap a three-game los­ing streak and are now 7-5 on the sea­son and tied with the Light­ning for third in the South Divi­sion.

In vol­ley­ball, the Ko­di­aks men re­main un­de­feated at 14-0 af­ter a 3-0 win over the Medicine Hat Rattlers Satur­day in Medicine Hat.

How­ever, the Ko­di­aks women’s team was de­feated 3-1 by the Rattlers Satur­day and are now 2-12 on the sea­son.
