Kodiaks basketball teams bounce back
The Lethbridge Kodiaks men’s basketball team rebounded in a big way.
The Kodiaks downed the Calgary St. Mary’s Lightning 92-72 in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference play Saturday night at the Val Matteotti Gymnasium at Lethbridge College.
The win avenges a 66-63 loss to the Lightning Friday in Calgary and improves the Kodiaks to 8-4 and into a three-way tie in the ACAC South Division with the Medicine Hat Rattlers (8-5) and the Ambrose Lions (8-5).
On the women’s side, the Kodiaks also earned a home win courtesy a 67-64 overtime win over St. Mary’s that also secures a 1-1 weekend after a 74-52 loss Friday in Calgary. The Kodiak women snap a three-game losing streak and are now 7-5 on the season and tied with the Lightning for third in the South Division.
In volleyball, the Kodiaks men remain undefeated at 14-0 after a 3-0 win over the Medicine Hat Rattlers Saturday in Medicine Hat.
However, the Kodiaks women’s team was defeated 3-1 by the Rattlers Saturday and are now 2-12 on the season.
