Farmers can unite at Ignite! Farm Credit Canada’s Ignite! event will take place on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge Hotel in Lethbridge.

“We are running these events targeted towards engaging the next generation of farmers, people involved in the agribusiness and food manufacturing centres all around,” said Steven Harris, district director for Farm Credit Canada’s Lethbridge office.

The Lethbridge event will feature networking opportunities and presentations from Jesse Hirsh, futurist and digital strategist; Tonia Jahshan, founder and president of Steeped Tea Inc.; Stuart Knight, entrepreneur, author and producer; and Georges Sabongui, psychologist and stress expert, inspirational speaker and author.

FCC, Harris adds, feels agriculture has a very strong future and they need people to become involved so the industry can truly reach the potential it has. FCC events have typically targeted a broader demographic, but Farmer’s Credit Canada saw ample opportunity to help young farmers entering the world of agriculture learn about the industry.

Harris also hopes that awareness events will help young farmers and others involved in agriculture-related careers appreciate what the industry has to offer.

“The event is really to help inspire possibilities, share some knowledge, and help with creating some connections through networking,” Harris said. “Our hope is to make agriculture look cooler.”
