Busy month ahead for Headwater Hurricanes

With a busy month ahead of them, the Lethbridge minor midget AAA Headwater Hurricanes started it on the right note.

The Canes earned a win and a tie in Alberta Minor Midget Hockey League action last weekend, defeating the Calgary CNHA Canucks 6-3 Saturday in Calgary before skating to a 3-3 tie with the Calgary CRAA Gold Sunday at Nicholas Sheran Arena.

The 1-0-1 weekend moves the Hurricanes to 20-3-2, good for first place in the South Division and second overall in the league.

On Saturday in Calgary, Lethbridge got goals from six different players as Nathan Bohmer, Logan Christie, Nolan Price, Brody Tallman, Koden Lazar and Carter DeBoer scored for the Hurricanes. Tallman added two assists for three points.

Christie added an assist for a two-point outing.

Marek Andres stopped 27 shots in the win.

The Hurricanes scored twice in the final 10:35 in Sunday’s game to earn the tie on goals from Wyatt Broderson and Bill Houenagnon.

Tyson Perkins scored in the second period for Lethbridge. Broderson also had two assists for three points.

Carter DeBoer added two helpers for the Hurricanes. Andres made 14 saves. The Hurricanes busy month continues with three games this weekend.

They are in Medicine Hat to face the SEAC Tigers Friday and travel to Calgary to play the CRAA Blue Saturday.

The Canes return home Sunday to host the Calgary NWCAA Stamps at noon at Nicholas Sheran Arena.
