Man sentenced to months for drug possession
A drug addict who was caught with heroin and methamphetamine will spend a few months behind bars.
Steven Klein, 33, pleaded guilty Thursday in Lethbridge provincial court to single counts of drug possession and drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, and was sentenced to six months in jail.
Court was told police arrested Klein following a drug investigation and caught him with 12 grams of methamphetamine, along with a number of items associated with trafficking. He also had a small amount of heroin. Although Klein, who defence said is a longtime addict, was sentenced to six months in jail, he was credited for two months he previously spent in custody, leaving a sentence of four months. He was also prohibited from possessing certain firearms and weapons for 10 years, and others for life.
Klein still faces several Criminal Code charges, including failing to attend court and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, on which he returns to court March 7.
