Kodiaks to clash with the Kings

The Lethbridge College Kodiaks men’s volleyball team will serve up a battle of the south this weekend.

The 20-0 Kodiaks welcome the Red Deer College Kings to the Val Matteotti Gymnasium for a two-match Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference showdown starting tonight at 8.

The Kodiaks have yet to venture into the loss column as the season heads into its second-last weekend, but they’ll be tested as the secondplac­e Kings (16-6) look to hand Lethbridge its first setback.

Meanwhile, the 3-17 Kodiaks women will contend with the 14-8 Queens, who sit in second in the ACAC South. The Kodiaks earned their third win of the season last weekend, taking a game off the Ambrose Lions, also 14-8.

On the mens’s side, this weekend’s clash will pit Red Deer’s Regan Fathers against Lethbridge’s Carter Hansen, who lead the ACAC in kills-per-set with 5.13 and 4.35, repsective­ly. Fathers leads the ACAC in kills with 369. Hansen is second with 296.

In overall points, Fathers is tops in the league with 421.5 and Hansen sits in second at 346.

Kodiak Matt Primrose’s 179 digs have him ranked 10 at 2.59 per set.

Mike Hummel is second in the ACAC in blocks with 46, while teammate Michael Svab is tied for fourth with 44.

Kodiaks middle Laura Serafini leads the Kodiaks women with 121 and an average of 1.73 per set.

Grace Kazanowski is tied for sixth in the ACAC in blocks with 41 and leads the conference in blocks-per-set at .98.

Red Deer’s Kaylee Domoney leads the ACAC in digs with 364.

Game time tonight is 6 p.m. for the women’s game with the men following at 8 p.m.

The rematches take place Saturday starting with the women at 1 p.m. and the men at 3 p.m.
