Rebels girls win on the road

The Taber W.R. Myers Rebels varsity girls won their fourth game of the season in Southern Alberta High School Basketball League play Saturday.

The Rebels were at the Catholic Central west campus in the only varsity girls game of the day, topping the Cougars 80-66 to improve to 4-6 this season.

Leading the Rebels was Kitawna Sparks with 21 points. Teammates Alex Haller, Austen Robbins and Anika Steed had 13, 12 and 11 points, respective­ly, for Taber.

For the Cougars (2-9), Kyra Collier had an 18point outing and Ashley Sazalski and Chloe Bevans each had 15. Alissa Crawford added 12 points for Catholic Central.

In the junior varsity game, the Cougars won 60-43 as Gracyn Hay led the way with 18 points and Aimee Baron had 11.

Halle Johnson replied with 11 points for the Rebels.

In junior varsity play Saturday, the Chinook Coyotes earned their first win of the year with a 4538 win over the Winston Churchill Griffins.

Brett Kitagawa scored 14 points for the Coyotes and Takeo Uyesugi chipped in with 10.

Cayla Stimson led the Griffins with 17 points.

On Friday, the Coyotes were defeated 57-37 by the Rebels as Vicky Shimbashi led W.R. Myers with 14 points.

Elisa Rios scored 11 points and Halle Johnson drained 10.

Reesa Keller scored eight points for the Coyotes.
