Men fined for hunting while stoned

Two Saskatchewan men have been fined for wildlife offences and hunting under the influence of marijuana.

Both men were also banned from hunting for two years.

Last September, provincial conservation officers discovered two hunters near Calder, Sask., who were in a vehicle parked on managed wildlife habitat.

The area is only to be entered on foot.

The officers smelled burning marijuana and, upon checking the vehicle, found cannabis and a loaded firearm.

The two Yorkton men recently pleaded guilty in provincial court.

Timothy Eashappie, 37, was fined a total of $1,250.

Colby Barnhardt-Peepeetch, 20, received $1,480 in fines.
