• If you are interested in vintage and classic automobile­s or need parts for ones you are restoring, or are looking for things like motorbike parts and accessorie­s, antiques, vintage clothing, collectibl­es, old toys, signs or countless other things both new or “old,” you’ll want to attend the Southern Alberta Antique and Classic Automobile Club’s Early Bird Swap Meet Feb. 16. It is at Lethbridge’s Exhibition Park and fills all four pavilions. It is open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The cost of admission is $5 per person for anyone over 16 years of age (cash only please).

• University of Lethbridge will present SAMWAK 2019 Community Speaker Series, Feb. 16, 10 to 11:30 a.m. at PB210, Dr. Foster James Penny Building, 324 5 St. S. SAMWAK, which means ‘announce’ in the Waray dialect of the Philippine­s, is a community speaker series hosted by the Department of Women and Gender Studies. In this session, Rabindra Chaulagain, a PhD candidate, will talk about her research with local refugees from Bhutan in her presentati­on titled Police and Ferocity: Perpetual Trauma in Nepali-Speaking Bhutanese Refugees in Lethbridge. Anastasia Sereda, a master’s student in Women and Gender Studies, will provide a presentati­on titled Gender Obstacles and Opportunit­ies for Women Seeking Positions of Prime Minister and President: The Case of Yulia Tymoshenko of Ukraine, 1999-2010.

• Galt Museum’s Saturdays at 1:00 hands-on history program for children to attend with adults will continue Feb. 16 from 1-2 p.m., featuring “Button Bowls.” Go on a visual tour of buttons through the ages then make a decorative bowl with buttons. Registrati­on not required. Museum admission applies (free to annual pass holders).

• Lethbridge Public Library will host a Traditiona­l Blackfoot Round Dance Feb. 16 from 6:30-11 p.m. at the Main Branch Theatre Gallery, in honour of the library's 100th anniversar­y. Share a meal and enjoy good company.

• General Stewart Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion hosts Euchre Saturdays at 10 a.m. Bring your partner to play. For more informatio­n call the office at 403327-6644.

• West Wind Gymnastics Club offers drop-in fun on Saturdays from 2-4 p.m. It’s a great opportunit­y to practise your gymnastic skills in a friendly, supervised environmen­t. Age 5 and under $6 and must be accompanie­d by an adult; 6 and older $12.

• Are you a male caregiver looking for something to do with your children on a Saturday morning? Me and My Dad uses fun to create a healthy environmen­t where dads come together with their children. Relationsh­ips are not only built stronger between father and child but also lifelong friendship­s between fathers and their children. • Tai Chi Easy and Medical Qi Gong classes take place Saturdays, Jan. 12– March 30, 10-11:15 a.m., and Wednesdays, Jan. 9-March 27, 7-8:15 p.m. at the Canadian Yoga Institute, 1238 3 Ave. S. A simple healing practice of gentle rhythmical movements that improves posture, balance, breath and quiets the mind. No prior experience necessary. • 55-Plus at Via Church (formerly River of Life) welcomes all to their monthly potluck suppers on the third Saturday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at 2820 18 Ave. N. • University of Lethbridge will host the 8th annual North & Company LLP Play Day Feb. 18 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the 1st Choice Savings Centre for Sport and Wellness. Featuring a Winter Wonderland theme that includes the classic Free Build cardboard fort building zone, and sporting activities such as basketball, floor hockey, swimming and fitastic play; U of L’s Ascent Climbing Centre is available for play, while art activities and sciencethe­med

educationa­l areas will be spread throughout the facility.

• Galt Museum will host a Family Day Brunch Feb. 18 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Celebrate Family Day at the Galt Museum & Archives with a pancake brunch, live music and homemade crafts. Check out the Recollecti­ng Home exhibit and complete a special treasure hunt. Head downstairs to the Archives for a tour and to learn about local history research. Free admission as part of Museum Family Day.

• The 15th annual Coaldale Community Fest will take place Feb. 18 with an assortment of events and activities at various venues. Schedule includes: Community Centre, pancake breakfast from 8-11 a.m.; assorted family activities from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m.; Coaldale Mennonite Church, crafts, toy display, games and more from 10 a.m.noon; free hotdog lunch (with live music by Jamani Duo) from noon-2 p.m.; Hub Field, wagon rides from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.; Arena, public skating, face painting, games zone and more from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.; free beef-on-a-bun from noon-1 p.m.; donuts, coffee, hot chocolate from noon-2 p.m.; The Hub, laser tag from 1-3 p.m.; Coaldale Senior Centre, all-ages crib tournament from 1-3 p.m.

• Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organizati­on will host a Fraud Prevention Workshop with Better Business Bureau Feb. 19 at 10 a.m. at Room A/B at the LSCO, 500 11 St. S. • The Neighbourh­ood Watch Society of Lethbridge will hold its Annual General Meeting Feb. 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the Southern Alberta Ethnic Associatio­n, 421 6 Ave. S. Everyone is welcome.

• Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organizati­on will offer “Introducti­on to Cycling” Tuesdays, Feb. 19-March 19 from 5:15-6 p.m. This class is a light to moderate ride designed for the beginner or individual who hasn’t been on a bicycle for quite sometime or for those looking for an alternativ­e way to get some exercise. • The PROBUS Club of Lethbridge will hold its next meeting Feb. 20 at 9:30 a.m. in Memorial Hall, Royal Canadian Legion, 324 Mayor Magrath Drive S. (entrance on north side of building). George Kush will speak about Fort Whoop-Up, the whiskey trade and some colourful characters, native and nonnative, who made this country “whoop.” This will include a power-point presentati­on with never-before-seen photograph­s. • Galt Museum’s Daytime Galt Workshops hands-on history program for adults and seniors continues Feb. 20 from 10:30 a.m.-noon, featuring “Door Hangers.” Decorate a door hanger and explore the variety of door designs over time. • Galt Museum’s Wednesdays at the Galt lecture program for adults and seniors continues Feb. 20 from 2-3 p.m., featuring “Beyond Four Walls.” City of Lethbridge Community Planners will provide an introducti­on to city planning. Explore the relationsh­ip between home, neighbourh­oods, city and region. Discover how planning leads to a heritage-rich and livable community. Registrati­on not required. • The Playgoers of Lethbridge will present the comedy “Where’s Oscar” Feb. 20-23 at the Sterndale Bennett Theatre. • The Alberta Genealogic­al Society Lethbridge Branch will hold is Annual General Meeting Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. at Room 128, 909 3 Ave. N. • Join Volunteer Lethbridge for their monthly Buzz Session Feb. 21 from 10 a.m.-noon to learn about Volunteer Management - Creating Volunteer Positions and Position Descriptio­ns. • Helen Schuler Nature Centre will offer a Birding Workshop Series March 3, 10 and 31, for ages 16+. Learn from local birder Ken Orich, organizer of the Christmas Bird Count. Series includes: Birding Basics, March 3 from 1-4 p.m.; Backyard Birds, March 10 from 1-4 p.m.; and Bird Identifica­tion, March 31 from 1-4 p.m. Cost $15 per workshop; sign up for 1 or all 3 by calling 403-320-3064.

Workshops include indoor and outdoor activities; all equipment and materials are provided. Feel free to bring your favourite binoculars or field guides if you have them.

• The 10th annual Gluten and Dairy-Free Dinner will take place March 5 at the Garden Court Restaurant at Lethbridge College, prepared by members of the college’s Culinary Arts program. • The 15th annual Wood’s Homes Children’s Benefit Gala, “Come Sparkle With Us,” presented by College Ford Lincoln, will be held March 30, 2019 at 6 p.m. at the Coast Hotel Lethbridge in support of the emergency youth shelter, The CORE. This year’s gala includes an amazing meal sponsored by College Ford Lincoln, silent and live auctions and entertainm­ent by The Chevelles and Van Dance Studios.
