Copperheads facing the Cubs in second round of playoffs

The Coaldale Copperheads opponent in the second round of the Heritage Junior Hockey League is set.

After receiving a bye in the first round for clinching first place in the HJHL South Division, the Copperheads will face the Medicine Hat Cubs in a best-of-seven series starting Tuesday night at 8 p.m. at the Coaldale Sportsplex.

Game 2 is Friday in Medicine Hat before Game 3 comes back to Coaldale Saturday. Game 4 is Sunday in Medicine Hat.

If necessary Game 5 goes Feb. 27 in Coaldale, Game 6 is Feb. 28 in Medicine Hat and Game 7 will be played March 2 at the Coaldale Sportsplex.

The Cubs beat the Strathmore Wheatland Kings 2-0 in their bestof-three first-round series.

The Copperheads finished 29-7-2 to place first in the South Division.

The Cubs were 17-17-4 to finish fifth in the South.
