Wrestlers medal at Junior Olympics

The Lethbridge Wrestling Club hit the road for some highcalibr­e competitio­n last weekend.

The club was in Edmonton for the Wrestling Junior Olympics Friday and Saturday at the University of Alberta Butterdome in Edmonton.

Taking home gold medals were Ryder Lowry (Junior High Boys), Katelyn Lowry (Kids Division Girls) and Dakota Smith (Junior High Boys).

Payton Shields (Junior High Girls) and Jada Bester (Junior High Girls) won silver medals and Danica Harris (Junior High Girls), Reese Ferguson (Junior High Girls) and Sydney Shields (Novice Girl) were bronze medallists.

The event was for wrestlers born between 2004 and 2010. The Lethbridge Junior High Boys finished fourth in the team competitio­n and the Junior High Girls took third.

The Alberta Schools Athletic Associatio­n Rural Provincial­s take place this Friday and Saturday at LCI.
