Extras sought for film to be shot in southern Alberta

‘LET HIM GO’ STARS KEVIN COSTNER AND DIANE LANE

- LETHBRIDGE HERALD — FORT MACLEOD

Hollywood is returning to Fort Macleod.

Following in the footsteps of “Brokeback Mountain,” “Interstellar,” “Passchendaele” and the most recent season of the FX series “Fargo,” a feature film is being shot in the area from April 5 to May 17.

“Let Him Go,” starring Kevin Costner and Diane Lane, requires extras for the Alberta-shot suspense thriller.

According to a release from the Town of Fort Macleod, the film is set in the early 1960s and extras for the movie must meet specific requirements for looks that are fitting the time period. Specifically, no visible tattoos, facial piercings, facial hair, fake nails or coloured or stylized hair is allowed.

People interested in being an extra are invited to a casting call at the Fort Macleod and District Community Hall, 301 25 Street, on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Extras casting directors will be accepting applicants from ages five to 80.

The feature film will be directed by Thomas Bezucha (“The Family Stone”) from a screenplay he wrote based on the novel with the same name by Larry Watson.

Costner is also serving as an executive producer.

The website for Focus Features describes the plot as involving a retired Montana sheriff (Costner) and his wife (Lane) attempting to rescue their grandson from the clutches of a dangerous family living off the grid in the Dakotas.

Costner and Lane had previously collaborated on “Man of Steel” and “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” as the parents of Superman.
