• The 2019 Hockey Alberta Female Peewee B Provincial Championships, hosted by the Lethbridge Peewee Cyclones, continues March 23-24 at the ATB Centre, 74 Mauretania Road West, in Lethbridge. More details online at https://peeweefemaleb.haprovincials.ca/home/.

• Global Drums spring concert will take place March 23, 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the University Theatre. Audiences will enjoy percussion styles from around the world, including samba, steel band, Brazilian, Taiko, African, Chinese and chamber percussion. • Woofin’ It Dog Walk takes place March 23, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Nicholas Sheran Park Shelter. Students in this year’s Integrated Management Experience (IME) program are working with Windy City Canine Rescue to increase awareness of the organization and raise funds to support the work it does to find homes for rescued dogs. The Woofin’ It Walk is a family-friendly gathering with lawn games, complimentary beverages, snacks and doggy goody bags.

• University of Lethbridge presents SAMWAK 2019, March 23, 10-11:30 a.m. at PB210, Dr. Foster James Penny Building, 324 5 St. S. In this speaker series sponsored by the Department of Women & Gender Studies, students, faculty and practitioners share their research with the community. In this session, Mary Siever, an undergraduate student, will present “Late Nights in Lethbridge: Parenting and the Pursuit of Post-Secondary Education.” Jasmine Saler, a master’s student, will present “Dancing into Questions and Moving through Answers: Dance as Method of Inquiry.”

• Galt Museum’s Saturdays at 1:00 hands-on history program for children to attend with adults continues March 23 from 1-2 p.m., featuring “Lethbridge History Trivia.” Play the Galt’s special trivia game for a change to win prizes. Registration not required. Museum admission applies (free to annual pass holders).

• Stockfest 2019: The Best is Yet to Come will take place March 23 at Servus Sports Centre to benefit the Lethbridge Football Club and KidSport. Hosted by the Lethbridge Soccer Association along with the Lethbridge Football Club, the annual cabaret is named for Cory Stock, a local soccer volunteer who died of leukemia in 2016. The event features live music from 7:30 p.m.-1 a.m. by the Bamboo Guppies and The Rypper (Al Rypien), silent and live auctions, 50-50 draw, cash bar, balloon pop and food. • The Lethbridge Legion Pipe Band’s Spring Fling Ceilidh and Fundraiser takes place March 23 at the German Canadian Club. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. with live entertainment beginning at 8 with a performance by the pipe band. A dance follows at 9 p.m. with live music by Cabot’s Crossing. Also a cash bar, silent auction, 50-50 draw, door prize and light refreshments on offer. • Comedy folk trio the Arrogant Worms will perform March 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Empress Theatre in Fort Macleod. Consisting of Mike McCormick, Chris Patterson and Trevor Strong, the trio describe themselves as “purveyors of the absurd and ambassadors of fun.” Their music spans many styles and genres, including rock, country, polka, jazz, folk, and metal, and their hit songs include “Me Like Hockey,” “Canada’s Really Big,” “Hot Dog Song” and “The Last Saskatchewan Pirate.” Tickets are $25, available at MacleodEmpress.com, by calling 403-553-4404 (1-800-540-9229) or at the Box Office on Main Street.

• Lethbridge Metis Local 2003 will host an Open House March 23 from 1-3 p.m. at 919 3. Ave. N. Come for refreshments, bannock and activities.

• Lethbridge Community Gold Band will present “The Spirit of Spring,” featuring the Medicine Hat Allegro Community Band, March 23 at 7 p.m. at College Drive Community Church. • Helen Schuler Nature Centre will present Extreme by Nature, for ages 1115, March 24 from 1:30-3 p.m. Join Emily Promise Allison from the SAAG and explore the mystical transformations of spring. • Lethbridge and District Horticultural Society will meet March 25 at 7 p.m. in the Lethbridge Public Library (main branch) Theatre Gallery. The evening will feature two speakers: Karen Barby from Green Haven Garden Centre will introduce shrubs newly available to the gardener and Maureen Sexsmith-West of Ladybug Arborists will describe the essentials of shrub maintenance. • Shaughnessy Community Hall, 133 3 St. in Shaughnessy, will host its bi-weekly Share Your Craft night March 26 from 79 p.m. $2 drop-in charge. • Galt Museum’s Daytime Galt Workshops hands-on history program for adults and seniors continues March 27 from 10:30 a.m.-noon, featuring “Paper Plate Weaving.” Explore the history of weaving and practise a technique with yarn and a paper plate. • Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization will offer a “Painting Acrylic Landscapes” class Thursdays, March 28-May 2, from 1-3 p.m. at the LSCO, 500 11 St. S. This class is designed for students who are already familiar with painting in acrylics. Participants will study different types of scenery and their colour schemes like the four seasons and how the light affects the landscape. Fee: $40 for LSCO members, $60 for nonmembers. • The One Act Drama Festival, sponsored by Playgoers of Lethbridge, will take place March 29-30 at the Sterndale Bennett Theatre. Start time 7 p.m. Featuring four plays over the two evenings with a public adjudication each night. Tickets are $10 at the door. Friday ticket is good for both nights.

• Shaughnessy Community Hall, 133 3 St. in Shaughnessy, will host its monthly Pancake Breakfast (cost $5) March 30 from 8-11 a.m. Secondhand Treasures rooms will be open.

• A book signing featuring Donna Clewes, the author of “Safe Behind the Little Waterfall: Finding Peace and Freedom Through the Journey of Healing,” will take place March 30,9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Lethbridge Legion (north room), 324 Mayor Magrath Drive S.

• The Lethbridge Branch of the Alberta Registered Music Teachers’ Association (ARMTA) will present a voice workshop and masterclass with clinician Rachel Goldenberg March 30 from 1-4:30 p.m. at the Lethbridge Public Library Theatre Gallery, 810 5 Ave. S. • The third annual Seedy Saturday takes place March 30 from 1-4 p.m. in the gymnasium at the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization (500 11 St. S.). More than 20 exhibitors that will include a mix of local organizations and vendors who will be selling everything from plants and seeds to garden tools. The popular seed swap will also return. Everyone is encouraged to bring extra seeds to give away. Anyone who is looking for seeds is welcome to take what they need, even if they don’t have their own seeds to trade. This year’s event features several workshops on topics such as wild bees and creating healthy soil. Admission to the exhibits, workshops and seed swap is free and everyone is welcome. • Helen Schuler Nature Centre will present Tick Talk, a free drop-in program, March 30 from 2-3 p.m. Join Dr. Joel Hutcheson for this informative presentation on tick biology, ecology, and disease transmission. Presentation followed by a session on how to recognize ticks.

• The 15th annual Wood’s Homes Children’s Benefit Gala, “Come Sparkle With Us,” presented by College Ford Lincoln, will be held March 30, 2019 at 6 p.m. at the Coast Hotel Lethbridge in support of the emergency youth shelter, The CORE. This year’s gala includes an amazing meal sponsored by College Ford Lincoln, silent and live auctions and entertainment by The Chevelles and Van Dance Studios. • The Muttropolitan Gala, an event to raise awareness and funds for rescue dogs, will be held March 30 from 3-9 p.m. at the Galt Museum & Archives, 502 1 St. S. Organized by Windy City Canine Rescue, Dhillon School of Business’ Integrated Management Experience. Featuring a silent auction, hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Entertainment provided by students from the University of Lethbridge’s music department and presentations from both Windy City and IME.

• 2019 Paddling Film Festival takes place March 30 at 6 p.m. at the Empress Theatre in Fort Macleod, presented by High Level Canoes and Kayaks and Waterlogged Paddling Club. The festival is an international adventure film tour presenting the world’s best paddling films of the year — whitewater, sea kayaking, canoeing, SUP, action and lifestyle. • Lethbridge Festival of Quilts 2019 – Call for Entry deadline is March 31 at midnight. Quilters in southern Alberta and area are encouraged to submit their entries for the Festival of Quilts 2019, which will take place June 14-15 at Lethbridge College.
