• Growing Abilities is a parent support and play group for children with differing abilities. It is open to parents/caregivers and their children with disabilities, as well as siblings and support staff. There will be
planned activities based on children’s developmental needs, abilities and interests. There will also be open-ended activities for siblings and space for parents to connect. This group will be facilitated by an Early Childhood Educator and a Parent Educator, so one-on-one support is not available to children. Give it a try at Family Centre Downtown on Fridays from 2-3:30 p.m. at #225, 200 4 Ave. S. The program is free but people are asked to register by calling 403320-4232. • TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), a non-profit organization which provides support to people wanting to lose weight, meets regularly in Lethbridge and area. Blind (LAB) provides numerous activities for the blind and visually impaired in the Lethbridge area. Some of these include dinners with entertainment, attending musicals and tours of local museums. The association also runs a bowling league which takes place weekly at the Holiday Bowl. • Helen Schuler Nature Centre’s Junior Naturalists drop-in program will take place
Sept. 14 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., featuring the theme “Coal.” Children (ages 6-10) will explore all that fall in the river valley has to offer through fun activities, crafts and games. will take place Sept. 14 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Logic Lumber Car Museum, 214 31 St. N. Proceeds will again benefit Interfaith Food Bank. All registered vehicles are eligible for door prizes, and Logic Lumber will be giving away an 8-x-12-foot shed built by Fox Buildings; enter as many times as you like, each entry requires a $10 donation to Interfaith Food Bank. Raffle tickets for the shed are available ahead of the event as well, at both Logic Lumber and Interfaith Food Bank. Spectators can participate in a 50/50 draw and silent auction.
