The 25th year of Operation Red Nose in Lethbridge has wrapped up, with Pronghorn Athletics and many volunteers running another successful campaign of safe rides and community engagement.

On the final night of Operation Red Nose, New Year’s Eve, 94 safe rides home were provided to bring the season total to 868 rides over 10 nights.

“Operation Red Nose is a major initiative for Pronghorn Athletics, and the U of L, to give back to our community," says Ken McInnes, Sport and Recreation executive director. “The donations that are made by those who use the service flow directly to the respective teams and are used to support our athletic pursuits, so thank you.”

During the 2019 holiday season, Operation Red Nose was able to collect $21,608.50 in donations from patrons who used the service, and another $18,450 in corporate donations for a total of $40,058.50. All of the proceeds raised will go directly back to the Pronghorn teams.

Since its inception, Operation Red Nose has raised more than $814,000 in support of Pronghorn teams. Every year’s campaign wouldn’t be successful without the large team of volunteers, local businesses and the community. Operation Red Nose and Pronghorn Athletics is thanking everyone who made this year’s campaign a success again.

Nationally, Operation Red Nose just ended its 36th annual road safety campaign with positive results, as the organization safely drove home 69,029 motorists across Canada.
