Oldman Watershed Council hosting presentation

With a 30-year average annual precipitation of just 15 inches per year, Lethbridge has a semi-arid climate. But just 11 inches of precipitation was recorded last year.

The Oldman River watershed is changing, and speakers will share perspectives on that change during a public presentation — “Water: From Science to the Sacred” — on Wednesday.

Shannon Frank from the Oldman Watershed Council will share her knowledge about watersheds — and about the Oldman system in particular.

Mike Bruised Head, longtime teacher and principal with the Kainai Board of Education, will speak about the sacredness of water from an Indigenous viewpoint, rooted in Kainai traditions. Discussion will follow. The presentations, set for 7 p.m. at McKillop United Church, are open to all interested. They will be hosted by the Justice, Peace and Social Action Committee at McKillop, located at 24 Street and 15 Avenue South.
