Horns downed by Dinos

The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns men’s basketball team’s offence was clicking yet again, but it wasn’t enough to derail the Calgary Dinos.

The Horns were topped 10590 by the defending Canada West champion Dinos in Canada West play Thursday night in Calgary.

The loss puts the Pronghorns at 4-9, while the Dinos remain undefeated at 11-0.

Heading into Thursday’s game, the Pronghorns were ranked fourth in the conference, scoring 88.3 points per game.

They topped their average, but the Dinos and their topranked offence kept a step ahead to remain perfect in the early-going of the second semester.

In the women’s game, the Horns kept it close with the Dinos, trailing 34-33 at the half, but came up eight points shy of pushing Calgary into the loss column for the first time this year as the Dinos won 74-66 to move to 11-0.

The Horns are 6-7 with the loss.

Kacie Bosch and Katie Keith each registered a doubledoub­le for Lethbridge.

Bosch had 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Keith added 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Jessica Haenni chipped in with 10 points for the Pronghorns.

The Horns shot 36.4 per cent from the field, 21.1 per cent from beyond the arc and 73.7 per cent on free throws.

The Pronghorns and Dinos complete their home-andhome series Saturday at the 1st Choice Savings Centre.

The women’s game is at 5 p.m. The men go at 7 p.m.
