• The Banff Centre Mountain Film
Festival World Tour will visit Lethbridge Jan. 9-11 starting at 7 p.m. each evening at the Yates Memorial Centre. Featuring some of the best outdoor adventure entertainment in the world, with several films highlighting mountain culture. Tickets are available at the Lethbridge Public Library, Main Branch only (not available online or by phone). Adults $20/show or $50 for all three nights. Seniors 65+ and Children 12 and under: $15/show or $40 for all three nights. Bring any unwanted electronic device (computer and technology related) and Christmas lights, TVs, stereos and more to the bins outside of one of the stores to be recycled or donated. • Growing Abilities is a parent support and play group for children with differing abilities. It is open to parents/caregivers and their children with disabilities, as well as siblings and support staff. There will be planned activities based on children’s developmental needs, abilities and interests. There will also be open-ended activities for siblings and space for parents to connect. This group will be facilitated by an Early Childhood Educator and a Parent Educator, so one-on-one support is not available to children. Give it a try at Family Centre Downtown on Fridays from 2-3:30 p.m. at #225, 200 4 Ave. S. The program is free but people are asked to register by calling 403-320-4232. • TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), a non-profit organization which provides support to people wanting to lose weight, meets regularly in Lethbridge and area. Frank will share her knowledge about watersheds in general and about the Oldman Watershed in which we live, while Bruised Head, a Kainai Elder and founder of KEPA, will speak about the sacredness of water from an Indigenous people’s perspective rooted in the Kainai traditions.

The conference will give producers a clear vision of how global trends will affect their cattle operations.
