City council appointed Jody Meli to the position of interim city manager during Monday’s public meeting.

Meli, who the is former Director of the City Manager’s Office, will be tasked with carrying out council’s objectives from Phase 1 and completing Phase 2 of the City’s operational review process started by her predecessor Bramwell Strain.

Meli said she would also move forward on other programs which would improve the efficiency of the civil service as a whole over the next six months while city council seeks a permanent replacement for Strain.

“I am not just caretaking. I will want to see a few changes, and some things I think we personally need to take on and tackle — again setting (the permanent city manager to come) up for success.”

According to the City, Meli has more than 35 years of experience in municipal government, including more than five years at the senior management level. During her career she has worked with diverse portfolios in municipal services including human resources, strategic initiatives, corporate communications and in the City Manager’s Office.
