LCI Rams take silver at Green and Gold

The LCI Rams boys basketball team made the final of their home tournament, but settled for silver.

The Rams advanced to the gold medal game of the 54th Annual LCI Green and Gold Tournament Saturday at LCI, but fell 91-82 to the Father Lacombe Lasers.

LCI beat the Medicine Hat Mohawks 85-73 in the semifinal and started the tournament with a 90-60 win over the Calgary Crescent Heights Cowboys.

The Lasers beat the St. Francis Xavier Rams 82-68 in the semifinal. They started the weekend with a 112-88 win over the Magrath Zeniths.

Mohawks 69-62 to earn the bronze medal.

On the consolatio­n side, the Zeniths beat the Cowboys 92-83 to place fifth.

Magrath beat the Cardston Cougars 108-99 in the consolatio­n semifinal, while the Cowboys beat the Catholic Central Cougars 76-52.

Cardston beat Catholic Central 89-55 in the seventh/eighth place game.

Jerome Rex of Father Lacombe was the leading scorer in the final with 31 points. He was also named the Green and Gold MVP. LCI’s Garrett Procee had 27.

Tanner French (LCI) William Tong (Father Lacombe), Ethan Egart (Medicine Hat), Nicholas Nogolica (St. Francis Xavier) and Cody Tollestrup (Magrath) were selected as tournament all-stars.
