You’ll meet parakeets that work as pollinators, the improbable fairy wrens, and flightless emus and kiwi birds as well as many others. Everyone is welcome; admission is by donation. • Leaders of Tomorrow is an inspiring gala that celebrates youth, ages 5 to 24, who have made contributions to Lethbridge and surrounding areas through volunteer activity. Nominations are now open. Volunteer Lethbridge invites individuals, community groups, local businesses, educational institutions, and volunteer organizations to nominate any young person that has demonstrated the spirit of volunteerism and inspired others. Children’s Benefit Gala will be held March 28 at 5:30 p.m. at the Coast Hotel Lethbridge, in support of the emergency youth shelter, The CORE. This 8-bed facility provides youth under the age of 18 with a bed, 3 meals a day, laundry facilities, showers, clothing and crisis counselling and support services. This year’s gala includes a musical performance of “Frozen” by students of St. Francis Middle School, a streamlined check-in, a condensed program, an amazing meal sponsored by College Ford Lincoln, “backto-paper” silent and live auctions and entertainment by The Chevelles. The gala is presented by Matt and Catherine Furukawa along with College Ford Lincoln. Early-bird ticket special expires Jan. 18.
