MATCHING PETS WITH PEOPLE

-

We once wrote that Claude was a stranger in a strange land, a shy cat, abandoned or lost, who was rescued by the PAW Society and brought indoors. All black, with a bit of white on his chest, Claude was wary and uncertain. Well, not any more! Now about two and a half, this healthy fellow is a fully-fledged citizen — he even knows the language! Very quiet when he arrived in his foster home, he nonetheless made friends with the other two mancats there, and re-learned how to trust people. Then — a real sign of comfort and security — this former outsider-cat started talking. He speaks to his person all the time now. Just as he began to enjoy being petted and brushed by watching his feline roommates, so, too, did he pick up the lingo by listening to his cat-pals. Now, there’s no looking back for Claude. He is more than ready for his own, permanent home. He would do equally well as an only-cat — monopolizing his human’s time — or as a member of a household already boasting an easy-going cat. Claude can learn still more from a chum — and maybe teach something, too! Learn more about this fine young gentleman by calling PAW at 403-328-6700, or go online at pawsociety.com. Give Claude something to talk about: a family of his very own.

Annabelle has boundless energy; she’s athletic, playful and full of fun! If you are interested in meeting Annabelle, you can see her at the Lethbridge Humane Society (2920 16 Ave. N. or call 403-320-8991). To view other Haven pets, go to www.lethbridgehumanesociety.com and click on the Available Pets link. Also check out the Lethbridge and District Humane Society on Facebook.

Tux is a sweet cat. He is happy now to have a safe place, something to eat and people who care about him. He would be very happy to have his own home. Anyone also looking for a new addition to their family can go to www.facebook.com/lastchancecatranch or www.thelastchancecatranch.com and read about our cats and what we do. We are getting a lot of messages about moms, kittens, owner surrenders, homeless cats and are only able to give advice and perhaps if there is room, intake and transfer to other reputable rescues that we work with. Moving into the month of June, our next bottle drive is June 6. If you have returnables, please message us on our Facebook page. Thank you to everyone who supports what we do!

Marybeth came to Purrfect Endings Rescue when she was a tiny, five-weekold, feral kitten. She is now approximately two and a half years old. She is still very scared and will need a special person who has a lot of patience and is willing to take things slowly. Marybeth needs the company of another cat. Hopefully, there is someone out there who will be the purrfect match for this sweet girl. Call Linda (403-381-9269) or Sam (403-382-0977) of Purrfect Endings Rescue for more information about Marybeth. We have so many special-needs cats who require special food and/or medical care. Our bill is very high and we are desperate for donations to help pay it down. No amount is too small. Donations can be made directly to Green Acres Animal Hospital (403327-8660), by etransfer: sixfurballz@telus.net, or you can also donate the proceeds from bottle recycling to us through Ability Bottle Depot South and North. Thank you so much to those individuals who have donated.

Esteban is a seven-month-old mixed breed dog who loves to hang with his brother Edwin. This shy boy is a bit unsure of things at first but is learning from his foster family just how much fun things can be. He is a handsome boy who would love a furry dog friend in his new home to help him to continue to learn all the great things out there in the big world. He is dog-friendly, catfriendly and loves kids. Visit www.windycityrescue.com or call 403-359-3139 for more information.

This public service feature runs each Saturday in the Lethbridge Herald.
