VOLUNTEER LETHBRIDGE – LSCO DRIVE HAPPINESS PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS

Your help is required for important community support! Many of our community’s seniors are experienci­ng loneliness and extreme isolation. Getting to their medical appointmen­ts, running errands and attending recreation­al activities is hard for

them and compounds the loneliness. In this position you will make a difference in the lives of our community’s seniors, one ride at a time. Volunteers in this role must be a resident of Lethbridge or surroundin­g areas, learn how to use RideSchedu­ler, and must follow all COVID safety precaution­s. Training and supplies will be provided. MYCITYCARE – DRIVER VOLUNTEERS

MyCityCare is an initiative developed by MyVictory Church to resource the community in areas of food and water, housing, clothing, health care and social justice, to give people a hand up into a hope filled future. Angel Tree Christmas campaign strives to ensure all families have an enjoyable Christmas by providing those in need with a Christmas bundle for each child. This campaign is a legacy our community has built together, and it is truly magical. In its 28th year, Angel Tree offers help to any family in Lethbridge and area, struggling to make Christmas happen in their home. This year with COVID-19 placing stress on finances like never before, they expect to help up to 3,000 children and will need many volunteers! Starting in December, volunteers can assist as toy sorters, toy stackers, admin elves, toy pickup drivers or gift

FAMILY CENTRE – DOOR KNOCKER VOLUNTEERS

Family Centre, based in Lethbridge, is a non-profit organizati­on providing a comprehens­ive range of services to children, youth and families in southweste­rn Alberta. Their vision is to achieve “Healthy Children! Healthy Families! Healthy Communitie­s!” Family Centre is

looking for four to five volunteers to deliver door-knocker advertisem­ents within the neighbourh­ood of Copperwood in

west Lethbridge. Each volunteer will have 100–125 advertisem­ents to hook onto residents’ front doors. This task may take up to two hours to complete and can be delivered anytime between Monday, Nov. 30 and Friday, Dec. 4. UNITED WAY OF LETHBRIDGE & SOUTH WESTERN ALBERTA – BOARD MEMBERS

United Way’s purpose is to raise funds to support essential local programs at United Way Partner Agencies. Grants from United Way’s Community Fund support programs that target poverty reduction, building healthy families and strong communitie­s, and helping children and youth be all they can be. United Way is seeking up to three new faces for

its board of directors. Their board directors are dedicated and skilled in their work, and provide clear and consistent leadership. The board assumes both a mandatory role, based on legal requiremen­ts of boards of directors, and a chosen role, based on the board model it has elected for itself. New board directors will work with the board chair and executive director

to discuss and define their role on the board and chosen committees, and get to know the organizati­on and its work to support local communitie­s. Those interested can submit a resume and cover letter to ED@lethbridge­unitedway.ca. This posting will remain open until positions are filled.

Meals on Wheels is a charitable, volunteer-based organizati­on, committed to providing home delivery of hot and nutritious meals to people in need. The LSCO Meals on Wheels program has a deep, positive impact, within the City of Lethbridge. The people they serve to are able to maintain a sense of independen­ce and stay in their homes and count on a hot noon meal. Volunteers deliver kindness, along with a meal.A

BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS LETHBRIDGE & DISTRICT – BIG BROTHER BIG SISTER VOLUNTEERS

Improve the life of a child and have a lot of fun! Mentors commit to spending a few hours each week with a child in their community who is need of extra

support. All matches are based on compatibil­ity, so “Bigs” and their “Littles” are free to do any mutually enjoyed activity. Volunteers are provided with ongoing support from caseworker­s for the duration of their match, but there’s no special training required. Due to COVID-19, all matches take place digitally.
