A family is continuing their search for Lane Tailfeathers, who went missing last month.

On Thursday night, family and friends of Tailfeathers gathered at Galt Gardens for a vigil to acknowledge those who have taken part in the search for the 35-yearold who went missing June 20.

“Father’s Day was the last day my dad saw him,” said Billi-J Heavyshields, Lane’s half-sister. “He was last seen in Fort Macleod. He was walking past my dad’s place and waved at my dad, that was the last time we’ve seen him.”

Heavyshields said it’s out of character for her half-brother to just disappear.

“He has a lot of friends around Fort Macleod,” she said. “His mom and dad both live there. It’s just strange for him. My brother really cared about his appearance. He would come home every other day to change and check in with family. He had a lot of friends who took care of him and they hung out together.”

On Thursday, a small crowd congregated on the stage at Galt Gardens to lend support to the family.

“We’re having a rally here to help bring Lane back safely,” said Heavyshields. “My aunt Faye (Heavyshields) has helped set this up to feed everyone and the volunteers who are around the city to just acknowledge all of the help we’ve been receiving.”

Heavyshields said the Major Crimes Unit in Edmonton has been working on the case. A search and rescue team from Edmonton has also been pitching in.

“They’re coming down to help with the search and rescue. We’re going to go on the river in Fort Macleod. I believe they have some boats and canines they want to help with.

“Kennith Many Fingers was a big help with the search and rescue.”

A Facebook page called Help Find Lane Tailfeathers ‘Wild

Horse Rider’ has also been set up at https://www.facebook.com/ groups/337344137954355

“We’ve been using that for updates. There are pictures of Lane on there also,” said Heavyshields, adding Tailfeathers has a visible tattoo on his neck that says ‘family.’ “He also was last wearing a white T-shirt and ripped jeans.”

Anyone with any tips are asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-800222-8477.

“We’ve been receiving tips from all over, we’re trying not to leave anything unturned,” said Heavyshields. “Anything that comes up, we just want to check. People have been reaching out and I’m thankful for that. But we haven’t been able to locate him. We’re very hopeful we can bring him home safely. But if, God forbid, that’s not the case we just want him home. We want my parents to have some closure to all of this.”
