Lethbridge Bulls cap off second straight win against Okotoks Dawgs

The Lethbridge Bulls have won their second game in Okotoks in as many nights and third in a row.

Once again hitting double digits in the run department, the Bulls downed the Okotoks Dawgs Red 11-2 in Western Canadian Baseball League play Thursday night.

The win comes after an 18-4 decision over the Dawgs Black Wednesday night and moves the Bulls to 18-15, one game back of the league-leading Dawgs Black (18-13) as Bulls catcher Ty Wevers had four RBI. Shortstop Mike Fitzsimmon­s had three RBI to hit 30 this season and take the lead in the WCBL. Wevers now has 19 RBI.

On Thursday, the Bulls scored three runs in the fourth inning and another five in the fifth, enough offensive support to earn the win.

Hitting leadoff, Fitzsimmon­s batted 4-for-4 with three RBI as Lethbridge outhit Okotoks 17-10.

Torrin Vaselenak was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and Josh Kabayama went 3-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI.

Wevers hit 2-for-4 with two runs scored in addition to his four RBI.

Sammy Hilgersom hit 2-for-5 with three RBI.

Olivier Vallee was 3-for-5 with one run scored for the Dawgs Red, while Nick Hagen was 2-for4 with one RBI.

Hitting leadoff for Okotoks, Tucker Zdunich hit 2-for-4.

Bulls starter Flynn Ridley earned the win for Lethbridge, working six innings and allowing two runs on seven hits, walking one and striking out nine to improve his record to 3-1. His ERA of 3.29 is good for sixth in the WCBL. Fellow Bulls starter Levi Abbott sits in third in ERA at 2.56.

Derek Palmiere took the loss for the Dawgs Red.

Bulls catcher Noah Or remains in second place in batting average in the WCBL at .382, behind Edmonton Prospect McCoy Pearce, who is hitting .388. Or is also second in the league in hits with 42, while teammate Nick Gravel is fifth with 36.

Brad Goodwin is in third in the league in RBI with 27, while Carlin Dick is one behind with 26.

The Bulls look to make if four in a row when they return to

Spitz Stadium Saturday night to take on the Edmonton Prospects (15-16).
