Lethbridge to have strong contingent at badminton provincial­s

There will be 26 local badminton players heading to Medicine Hat for provincial­s this weekend after successful games in the South Zones at Chinook High School and Catholic Central High School on Friday.

The most representa­tion will come from Winston Churchill as Jenna Nilsson will be participat­ing in girls seniors singles, Brooklyn Lesko will be on the court in girls intermedia­te singles, Bhawana Pradhan and Neecki Karki are competing in senior girls doubles, Sharlize Lopez and Maliha Kabir will try their hand in the junior girls doubles and Benny Adserballe and Daillon Kryzanowsk­i will play in the boys doubles intermedia­te category.

As for Lethbridge Collegiate, Autumn Wood and MacKay Matson will be in the mixed doubles juniors category.

Kate Andrews is sending Dylan Granson to the boys senior singles category and the duo of

Brandon Granson and Haelen Opp will be looking for success in the senior boys doubles.

Ecole La Verendrye will have representa­tion from Constantin Ciobanu and Zaedin Trinh in the junior boys doubles.

Chinook is sending Isabella Paoletti for the seniors girls singles category, Katie Baker and Bronwynn Orr in the girls doubles intermedia­te and Simon Bain in the senior singles.

Myah Lebleu and Caleb Campmans will represent Catholic Central in mixed doubles intermedia­te, as well as Abbey Ehlert and Tyson Obara in mixed doubles intermedia­te, Grady Hay in intermedia­te singles and Blake Dudas and Ryerson Young in boys doubles seniors.

Players that qualified but were unable to attend were Robin Austin from Chinook and Kai Polec and Ethan Skinner fromw Cathlic Central.
