A 38-year-old city woman accused of shooting her ex-boyfriend earlier this year, is serving a jail sentence out of another jurisdiction while she waits to deal with her Lethbridge charges.

The matter for Kristina Hatcher was in Lethbridge court of justice last week, but adjourned until June 22 to allow time for her Calgary lawyer, John Oman, to receive more disclosure from the Crown’s office.

Oman told court his client remains in remand at the Lethbridge Correctional Centre, where she is also serving a sentence for several charges out of Calgary, including arson and uttering threats.

“We’re waiting for some significant disclosure,” Oman told the judge. “She’s also had Calgary matters, and she’s now a serving prisoner of 15 months on those matters.”

Hatcher, who was previously denied bail, faces Lethbridge charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, assault/choking, theft of a vehicle, discharging a firearm with intent to injure, use of a firearm while committing an offence, careless use/ storage of a firearm, pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized, robbery with a firearm, mischief causing damage under $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

Lethbridge police reported that at about 6:26 a.m. on March 20 they responded to a 911 call that a man had been assaulted in his home on Rutgers Crescent West.

Investigators determined the 54-year-old victim confronted his ex-girlfriend and another man, and following a brief verbal exchange was shot by the woman and physically assaulted by the man. The two assailants then fled in the victim’s truck, which was recovered a short distance away. Two suspects were arrested without incident later in the day, and police also seized a firearm.

The victim was treated for a gunshot wound at the hospital, where he was reported at the time to be in stable condition.

Robert Duane Vincent, 41, of Claresholm, is also accused of offences stemming from the same incident and is charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, assaulting/choking, theft of a vehicle, discharge a firearm with intent to injure, use of a firearm while committing an offence, careless use/storage of a firearm, pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, knowingly possessing an unauthorized firearm, mischief, possession of a firearm contrary to an order, robbery with a firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He was also denied bail previously, and is scheduled to return to court June 20.
