ROASTS AND TOASTS

-

TOAST: So Albertans have better memories than the NDP gave them credit for. Congratulations!

ROAST: To all the Albertans who elected the UCP! Hope you will be happy as you watch health care, education, the environment, and maybe even your Canada Pension Plan go down the tube!

TOAST: To a government that won’t stick Lethbridge with another SCS. Treatment is the way to go, not handing out needles to junkies. Best thing to happen for our city.

TOAST: To The Herald for calling out the NDP for its own lack of accountability in the May 31 paper. Guess you’re not so biased after all.

ROAST: To the slow poll reporting! What took so long? We should have known the results way earlier. Somebody needs to be held accountable, especially in Lethbridge for that fiasco.

TOAST: To the City of Lethbridge for the new green bins. As someone who has composted kitchen scraps for almost 30 years, I initially doubted I’d have any use for a green bin. As it turns out, there is so much more that can go into it than I expected and it was full for the first scheduled pick up. Our green bin will continue to be well used and we’re very happy with it.

ROAST: To the City? Who’s that new “play space” going to actually be accessible for? The people already hanging out at Galt Gardens, that’s who.

ROAST: To the poll takers attempting to sway voters in a direction to vote NDP. These poll takers need to be reprimanded and investigated as they are dealing with the livelihoods of a great number of people. Majority win for the UCP and not even an apology from the poll takers.

ROAST: To Shannon Phillips fear-mongering style to gain voters, which unfortunately won her riding. When will the Alberta voters who support her realize that they are led astray by this fear mongering style.

Donald Trump uses this style and the voters in the USA are realizing this and have had enough of it.

TOAST: To the UCP majority win which saved hardworking taxpayers property owners in this province from having a transitional house located next to their valuable property. Thus, a lot of taxpayer dollars were saved.

ROAST: To the green bins in Lethbridge - they are too small. I still have to take my yard waste to the sites provided.

TOAST: To an election where neither party got what they wanted. NDP lost, UCP lost seats. Maybe now they will realize people are not entirely happy with either party or their extreme platforms. New leadership for both parties? I hope so. The split between rural and urban voting should be a strong message to both parties.

TOAST: To voters seeing through the sham that is the NDP, except in West Lethbridge. At least we won’t get another drug site.

ROAST: To Rob Miyashiro. Next time you run for election, campaign separately from Phillips. That cost you my vote.

TOAST: To the UCP if it fulfills the promises it made for the Lethbridge hospital. Let’s see you walk the walk now. Talk doesn’t cost you money.

TOAST: To Cheryl Seaborn. You ran a great campaign and may have won if you’d been in the game earlier. Thanks for giving us some hope in the election.

ROAST: To the City of Lethbridge, and whoever else agreed to spend $662,000 of public money to create a play place in Galt Gardens. The only ones playing there will be the drug addicts who hang out down there. What a joke. Well, I suppose you could send little Johnny down there to play scavenger hunt for hypodermic needles.

TOAST: To Alberta. In Q4 2022 Alberta had the largest interprovincial migration growth of any province at +11,534. Ontario was -7,244, BC -1,830. The only other provinces showing growth were the Maritime provinces (Nova Scotia was highest at +1,025). Source: Stats Canada. The rest of Canada obviously sees the Alberta advantage is real. Fact: for every person who says “I’m leaving Alberta” there are more that say “I’m moving to Alberta”. They are free to come, you are free to leave.

TOAST: To the Lethbridge Herald for their opinion piece on May 31 - UCP not the only party that needs to be accountable. An excellent read. Thank you.

ROAST: To Global television for their unbalanced and inflammatory reporting in the final days of the election. What happened to the media claiming to be unbiased?

ROAST: In some countries they drive on the left. In Lethbridge we drive on what’s left.

ROAST: To the new as well as the old Alberta government. We desperately need to implement recall legislation at all levels of government. They promise whatever they think the electorate want, and once they are in power, the ability desire to follow through with what was promised in always present.
