ROASTS AND TOASTS

-

TOAST: To the Lethbridge Herald for finally asking if we think City administration is doing a good job. This council and the last have been awful and we are so much in debt for it and our community is getting worse with so much wasted money. ROAST: Tucker Carlson seems more interested in ideas of our premier than many Alberta residents. TOAST: To Al Beeber and Mark Svenson for the front page article on water conversation and the survey involved. This article made me aware of the website ‘getinvolvedlethbridge.ca.’ I wonder how many other residents never knew about this and all the Lethbridge projects and surveys available for feedback. ROAST: In Israel, we see the Israeli government at war with the extremist organization Hamas - with the Palestinian people being caught in the middle. Palestinians have been there as long as Jews have. Jews got their own country after the Second World War. Palestinians did not. ROAST: To those thinking Trump is the answer. Biden is no better. No one should be running a country past the age of 75, regardless of how competent they are. Our leader is more like Trump than you think. They were both raised with money and a silver spoon, inherited everything they have and have never really worked a hard day in their life.. TOAST: To Floyd Joss and his excellent letter to the editor about how valuable carbon dioxide is to our planet. Toast to the Lethbridge Herald as well for publishing his letter. ROAST: Tucker Carlson go home! Canadians are not stupid. We do not need you around to spread poison and we will take care of our own Canada. ROAST: To our City planners and the council for approving their decisions despite how the taxpayers feel about it. Take the downtown bike lanes for example. That was a total waste of money for something that wasn’t wanted. You are making bad decisions and we are paying for it. As for the Exhibition, you said it wasn’t your fault but didn’t you approve the initial handout? If that had been denied then we wouldn’t be in this mess. ROAST: Tucker Carlson stated in court that his show was not journalism but opinion and entertainment. That’s code for imagination and coincidence. His job is to literally get you angry and then sell you lies, conspiracy and MAGA propaganda. Please don’t bring this style of potentially violent politics to Alberta. TOAST: To the premier of Alberta for suggesting that members of the media focus some of their attention on the incompetent and biased federal Minister of the Environment. TOAST: To the UCP for wasting our money creating work by making all municipal governments report all funding and other agreements with the federal government. This will show city hall and council what it is like for all us small not-forprofits and the amount of work you put us through wanting every detail on every dollar we get from other funders. ROAST: To the City for not updating their salary disclosure list for almost two years. I’d like to know what City administration make and not just a band. Do a Sunshine List like other municipalities. And ROAST to the City for not sharing severance pay for administration. If they aren’t good, why pay them to leave? Just fire them. And show us the numbers! ROAST: To the news media when they tell us the experts say this and the experts say that. Who are these experts and are they far enough from home to be considered an expert? Please give us names and qualifications so we may be the judges as to whether or not they are in fact experts. TOAST: To the City waste management fumble on the organic program. Driving around on pickup day I noticed very few green carts out for pickup. Waste management should tell us the total cost of pickup every time the arm goes up and down and the operating cost of collection day and tonnage. ROAST: To yet another of Don Ryane’s letters to the editor supporting our prime minister and explaining the evils of capitalism. ROAST: Why do convoy drivers protest for their rights by taking away my rights to free border access without being caught up in their protest? ROAST: To the Exhibition. Not a facility for animals? All the better to keep the old building going to house the unwelcome animals that are so vital to agriculture. ROAST: To all delivery drivers. Can you please use the door bell or knock on the door rather than leaving parcels unattended? At least you will know if the person is at home. TOAST: To Floyd Joss’s letter on carbon dioxide on Jan. 23. Carbon dioxide is very important for the maintenance of our forests and crop production. Carbon dioxide is necessary for all life.
