-

Playing their third game in four days Monday, the Lethbridge Hurricanes fell 7-3 to the Rebels in Red Deer.

Late in the period, the Rebels pulled even as Frantisek Formanek scored his 15th goal of the season cashing in on a rebound after a defensive zone turnover to tie the game 1-1.

Red Deer dominated the second period as they outshot Lethbridge 17-8 in the middle frame and struck for four goals.

In the third period, Brady Smith replaced Harrison Meneghin in the Hurricanes net. Red Deer kept their foot on the gas early in the final frame as Ollie Josephson buried a shot over the blocker of Smith on the first shot he faced.

On Saturday at the Enmax Centre, the Canes couldn’t hold onto a three-goal lead as they lost 4-3 in overtime to the Prince Albert Raiders. The game was a battle of the seventh and eighth place teams in the Eastern Conference with the Canes entering it trailing the Raiders by two points.

The Hurricanes outshot the Raiders 14-7 in the opening frame marking the first time in 18 periods that Lethbridge reached double-digits in shots on goal.

The Hurricanes opened the scoring at the 14:04 mark as Trae Wilke buried his ninth goal of the season – and first in 13 games – to give Lethbridge a 1-0 lead.

The team built a 3-1 lead in the third before the Raiders mounted a comeback, tying it with 4.8 seconds left.

Sloan Stanick ended it on the first shift of OT with his 23rd of the season.
