Season of movie going underway at the theatre

I suffered a few technical difficulti­es last week that we hope have been resolved.

Seems like March 1 is a date, theatrical­ly, that kicks off the season of movie going!

Five new movies grace our screen this weekend including “The Oath.”

“Lisa Frankenste­in,”

“The Beekeeper.” “Land of Bad” and the colorful

“Wonka.”

“The Oath” is a film long awaited by many

Southern Albertans. Our own locals Mark Brave rock (Sage Clan) is credited for the Blackfoot language coach, and Eugene Brave rock’ (“Wonder woman” star alongside Billy Zane (“Titanic;” “The Phantom”). in this historical drama. It is rated PG, runs 104 minutes, and is scheduled to play daily at 12:453:55 and 6:55pm.

“400 A.D., in a forgotten time of Ancient America, a lone Hebraic fugitive must preserve the history of his fallen nation while being hunted by a ruthless tyrant but rescuing the King’s abused mistress could awaken a warrior’s past.” – Great Scott Films.

“Lisa Frankenste­in” is a modern comedic take on the classic tale of Frankenste­in set in the eighties. This comedy is rated 14A and is 101 minutes in length. It is scheduled to play daily at 3:40 and 9:35.

“A coming of rage love story from acclaimed writer Diablo Cody (Jennifer’s Body) about a misunderst­ood teenager and her high school crush, who happens to be a handsome corpse. After a set of playfully horrific circumstan­ces bring him back to life, the two embark on a murderous journey to find love, happiness... and a few missing body parts along the way.” – Lionsgate Films.

“Wonka” is an amazing musical telling of the beloved origin story of Willy Wonka. It is a fun film for the whole family. Timothy Chalomet and Hugh Grant star is this heart-warming PG rated film, which is 112 minutes long. It is scheduled to play daily at 12:50, 3:45, 7 and 9:30pm.

“Based on the extraordin­ary character at the center of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Roald Dahl’s most iconic children’s book and one of the best-selling children’s books of all time, “Wonka” tells the wondrous story of how the world’s greatest inventor, magician and chocolate-maker became the beloved Willy Wonka we know today.” – Warner Bros.

The last two films are great action pictures that will have your pulse pounding! “The Beekeeper” starring Jason Statham delivers the goods as far as action and thrills! It is rated 14A with a violence and coarse language warning. 105 minutes in length.

“In “The Beekeeper,” one man’s brutal campaign for vengeance takes on national stakes after he is revealed to be a former operative of a powerful and clandestin­e organizati­on known as “Beekeepers”.” – VVS Films.

Finally, “Land of Bad” starring Russell Crowe is rated 14A with a brutal violence and coarse language warning.

“Starring Russell Crowe and Liam Hemsworth, a covert Special Forces operation in the South Philippine­s spirals into a brutal 48-hour battle for survival. When an elite extraction team is ambushed deep in enemy territory, rookie officer Kinney (Hemsworth) is left outnumbere­d but determined to leave no man behind.
