ROASTS AND TOASTS

-

ROAST: To Danielle Smith and the UCP government. Danielle thinks she is going to make the Heritage Fund equal to Norway’s in 25 years, a dream that won’t happen. In the meantime, our healthcare and education systems are going to try to survive on lotteries and bake sales! You can’t “make Alberta great again” because the oilpatch has been mismanaged by the Conservatives for over 40 years!

TOAST: It’s been two years since they took their stand at the Coutts border. Chris, Tony, Jerry and Chris captured the hearts of so many people across the world. We continue to hold them in our daily prayers and look forward to the day when we are all together again.

ROAST: On reading the City fleet replacement list 2024 we note of Lethbridge Transit the proposed purchase of 13 new 40-foot electric buses costing $1.199 million each. We do not see operating costs. Taxpayers are questioning that - we now see 40 ft, buses running empty. What will be the true total yearly taxpayer bill?

TOAST: To Danielle Smith for wanting to grow the Heritage Fund. Maybe in 25 years it will be large enough to pay for the reclamation of the oil sands when the oil companies walk away from them.

ROAST: Every program from the NDP/Liberal coalition has had income restrictions thereby eliminating the middle class who contribute the most to gov revenue. Finally Alberta is beginning to see the benefit of how Quebec deals with the feds. Quebec has always controlled its destiny and it is about time Alberta did as well.

TOAST: To Premier Smith. Banning solar panels from good farmland is the most common sense I’ve heard from a politician in forever.

ROAST: In regards to Ken Sears letter in the Feb. 28 Lethbridge Herald he might like to know that the AER may not have a choice in setting up another panel review of the Grassy Mountain coal project. The Federal Court rolled back the federal government’s rejection of the project due to the failure of that panel to consult in a meaningful way with the First Nations. That means do it properly this time or face another court challenge.

ROAST: Actually more of a riposte to the claim “a vote for Trump is a vote for Putin says he actually wants Biden to win. How to square that circle? Ask whose policies better suit Putin?

ROAST: To the UCP for saying they will opt out of the new federal pharmacare program. Other than seniors Blue Cross, their supposedly robust Alberta programs have maximum income levels for qualification that are so low that very few people actually qualify. As usual they are just trying to get their hands on money that belongs to Albertans without doing anything to help Albertans. Only individuals should be allowed to opt out. ROAST: As an avid reader of the Lethbridge Herald I was absolutely stunned to see on the front page “Hurricanes help the hungry,” all mixing salads to serve with their bare hands. Wonder if their hockey shirts are clean.

TOAST: To the Hurricanes for helping at the Soup Kitchen but not one wearing gloves. Where was the supervisor?

TOAST: To George, the Fort Macleod denturist, for the neat and wonderful job he does on our Dentures! What a plus to have dentures that fit!

TOAST: To Quinn at West

Save On. During my last two visits Quinn was exceptionally helpful and kind. It is not often you return from grocery shopping feeling as appreciative and happy. “Bargain Hunter” looks forward to being a regular west side customer from now on.

ROAST: To the budget again leaving education and healthcare short. UCP needs to go.

ROAST: To Danielle Smith for her budget. She claims that this budget should be frugal but it doesn’t seem to be. That didn’t stop her from spending all that money on advertising for taking over our CPP. Also, why are they budgeting $15 million for a new hockey arena in Calgary? If they have 15M to spend on a hockey arena, why not help support our Exhibition new building? ROAST: To Danielle Smith: Now she says there is a resource revenue issue. Where has she been all her life? In Alberta there is always a resource revenue issue. She should have saved the millions she spent trying to brainwash Albertans into accepting an Alberta Pension Plan.

ROAST: To door-to-door solicitations of various products or services. These interruptions often occur during dinner hours or in the evening when people may be engaged in other tasks. If homeowners require any of these products or services, they should be seeking out reputable providers who have a well-established presence in our community.

ROAST: To Danielle Smith and the UCP. Drop the sovereignty push - we are proud Albertans and at the time and with the same passion, proud Canadians!
