County offering scholarships to local students
In support of local residents pursuing postsecondary studies, Lethbridge County is offering scholarships and bursaries under two programs this year.
The County’s Post-Secondary Bursary program, now in its fifth year, will award three students with $1,500 each. Eligible applicants will be entering their first year of post-secondary education at an accredited institution, including trade schools. It is important to note that applicants do not have to be current high-school students. Mature students are also encouraged to apply. Applicants must reside in Lethbridge County.
Consideration will be given to applicants based on academic standing and good citizenship demonstrated through community participation. The application deadline for the bursary program is June 1, 2024, with the awards being disbursed by August 31, 2024, with proof of enrollment.
Eligibility requirements and applications are available online or at the County’s Lethbridge administration office (#100, 905 4 Ave S).
This year, an additional program is being offered under the Community Benefit Scholarship. The County has collaborated on this scholarship with the Stirling Wind Project for up to two awards at a maximum of $2,000 each. Eligible applicants include current high-achieving high-school students who are planning to further their studies in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) within the following year.
The application deadline for the Community Benefit Scholarship is July 31 with recipient(s) being notified by September 1, 2024. Eligibility requirements and applications are available online or at the County’s Lethbridge administration office (#100, 905 4 Ave S).
“Council is continually impressed by the applications we receive,” says Reeve Tory Campbell. “We are so proud of the high-achieving, communityminded students in the County who are on the path to pursuing their post-secondary goals. We strongly encourage anyone eligible to apply to do so.”
