ROASTS AND TOASTS

See Tuesday’s Herald for more Roasts and Toasts, now running twice weekly

ROAST: What next? This

UCP government has targeted the transgender people. That decision should be made by the child, parents and doctor, not by any government. Then they went after the Seniors taking away the funding for the Elder Abuse program here in the city. They couldn’t find a small amount of $100,000 dollars to keep the program going.. The old saying : Nothing South of Calgary.

ROAST: To the City for the deplorable icy conditions at crosswalks. The buildup of icy snow at crosswalks makes it almost impossible to cross a road. The need to backtrack to find a safe place to cross or the need to cross a road away from crosswalks make it dangerous. Don’t pile snow at crosswalks.

ROAST: To the Trudeau Liberals. First they raise the carbon tax to make Canadians bleed even more but then they have the audacity to give themselves a huge pay raise while we scramble to put food on the table. When times were tough at least Harper had the soul to put a wage freeze.

ROAST: To Premier Smith’s hypocrisy about the federal fuel tax. The feds did put the tax up three cents, but UCP put the

Alberta tax up on same day by four cents.

ROAST: To Danielle Smith complaining about the three cent carbon tax added to fuel on April 1 while she herself added a four cent tax onto fuel the exact same day. Albertans will receive the carbon tax back as a rebate every three months. Albertans won’t get the Danielle fuel tax back. That money is gone!

ROAST: To the idea the Enmax Centre should be replaced after all the money spent on renovations. We can’t afford to pay for that after the Exhibition fiasco and since we aren’t Calgary, we won’t get any provincial money for it. We can’t even get enough new schools here.

ROAST: As a pensioner I live on CPP and OAS. Yes, I own my home and I did this by living within my means during my working years. To the administrative assistant whose children must work to make household ends meet, you are living beyond your means. Whatever happened to common sense? Don’t people understand that higher wages means everything else goes up accordingly. Sorry I don’t buy this NDP way of thinking, and yes the UCP have forgotten Lethbridge but an election can and will fix that.

TOAST: To Theresa Teerling for her letter “Bible makes clear God’s position...” concerning Mr. Mitsui’s letter: “Mankind conjured up a God who make us live forever.” Well said! I’m thankful for the Saviour Jesus Christ, his life, his love, his teachings, his example, his courage, his obedience, and his atoning sacrifice that gives us hope of eternal life. I pray that

I can live my life inwardly and outwardly in such a way that I can live in the presence of the father and the son with my loved ones and all of those who are believers. ROAST: I’m sorry Mr. Mitsui hasn’t opened the greatest gift that was ever given to mankind - the atonement of Jesus Christ theson of God who gave His all that we might have hope of eternal life. He suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane and upon the cruel cross taking upon himself all the sins, pains and suffering of mankind and died that we might all live again and if we repent have eternal life.

ROAST: A new arena in 15 years? Not on my dime, I hope. Thanks Herald for giving this front page coverage! Make Beeber stay. You can’t afford to lose him. He keeps the City on its toes knowing somebody is watching!

ROAST: To everyone who subscribes to the ‘Jesus died for your sins’ guilt trip. Get real; a newborn hasn’t sinned anyone. This nonsense is about control and power - for the money you give at church on Sundays. And who wrote the Bible? Man did. And it’s been translated and interpreted a gazillion times over thousands of years to fit a preferred way of thought. Pass me a chocolate egg, thanks.

ROAST: To Premier Smith with the hypocrisy of her push against the federal carbon tax which actually helps the environment and gives back more than we pay in, she enacted an increase in the provincial gas tax, also on Apri 1. Alberta is the richest province in Canada and there is no rebate on her gas tax. It is just a cash grab.

ROAST: To Danielle Smith. With you in charge this province is going backwards in our democracy. Now you want to interfere in municipal elections, changing recall legislation and continue to push for a provincial police force when Albertans are telling you to leave it alone.

ROAST: To Trudeau for not placing Canada as priority for future prosperity of our economy. Everything he does or attempts to do harms our Canadian economy. We need a balanced government that addresses environmental issues but also addresses financial prosperity in this country.

TOAST: To Tad Mitsui for looking at religion from an objective and fair lens. You wrote what many people feel and did it so eloquently.
