LETHBRIDGE & DISTRICT HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY - GARDEN VOLUNTEERS
If you have a green thumb we have the perfect opportunity for you this Spring.
The Horticultural Society has some gardens near Henderson Pool that require regular volunteers. They also do some planters in front of the Regional Hospital and a large garden in Legacy Park on the North side. If some volunteers are not physically able to do intensive gardening, there are things like deadheading roses, etc. that can still be done. Flexible time.
YOUTH ONE – SPORTS VOLUNTEERS
Are you a friendly and outgoing person who enjoys a fun-filled atmosphere? Youth One is looking for volunteers passionate about sports. Volunteers will be part of the Sports Programming after school, assisting kids with a variety of sports and activities. You can pick one day or volunteer for the entire week. Location will be primarily at the gymnasium of Park Meadows Baptist Church.
STREETS ALIVE – HAIRDRESSER/ BARBER VOLUNTEER
A little bit of your time can have a huge impact. Streets Alive is looking for an experienced Hairdresser/Barber with a willingness to work with the street population as part of their Care Cuts Program. All the tools and supplies are provided. The Care Cuts room is available anytime Tuesday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Volunteers will always be accompanied by a staff member.
HUNGARIAN CANADIAN OLD TIMER SOCIETY OF LETHBRIDGE- BINGO VOLUNTEERS

PEAK SUPPORT SERVICES – COOKING, BAKING & KITCHEN FUN VOLUNTEERS
Are you a baker who would love to share homemade treats and your talents with others? Peak is looking for Cooking, Baking & Kitchen Fun assistance. Volunteers will provide direction to individuals with disabilities and the staff providing support with the baking, recipe preparation and cleanup. Applicants must be 18 years old and up, and may sign up for once a week or once a month. The Day Program Cooking Class runs weekly on Wednesday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to Noon and the R Space Cooking Class on runs twice weekly on Tuesday and Thursday from10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m./1:00 p.m. Volunteers may sign up for once a week or once a month.
SOUTHERN ALBERTA ART GALLERY – CRAFTERNOON VOLUNTEERS
Calling all crafters! Crafternoon is a fun and family-friendly program that provides the opportunity to learn new art techniques and projects inspired by the Gallery’s current exhibitions. On the last Saturday of each month, they organize a self-directed drop-in art activity in their Creativity Centre. These activities usually relate to the exhibitions, exploring techniques and themes used by featured artists. Responsibilities include assisting with set up, participating in the craft activity, assisting the program leader and participants throughout the afternoon and assisting with clean up. Volunteers are needed for Saturday April 20, 2024, from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
UNITED WAY LETHBRIDGE & SOUTHWESTERN ALBERTA - GRANT ALLOCATION REVIEW COMMITTEE
Do you have a keen eye for detail and are looking to lend your skills to an energetic and enthusiastic organization? United Way Lethbridge & Southwestern Alberta is seeking volunteers to review their Community Fund grant applications. Duties would include reviewing grant applications to decide which grants have the best return on investment, the greatest need in our communities, sustainability, and impact. Applicants must be 18 years old or above, reside within Southwestern Alberta and have a basic understanding of financial statements and spreadsheets. Volunteers will receive an orientation to best understand the granting process and evaluation and attend a post grant decision meeting. Meetings will be held virtually.
EXTENDICARE FAIRMONT PARK – EVENT VOLUNTEERS
Are you willing to share some of your time to receive a roomful of smiles and grateful hearts. Event Volunteers will assist with scheduled recreation programs, events, and one-to-one visits, setting up (food prep, table set up) and assisting residents to and from the program. Volunteers must physically be able to push wheelchairs or walk beside independent walkers.
