LEFTOVERS FOOD FOUNDATIONTRANSPORTATION VOLUNTEERS

Do you have a few hours a month to give to a worthy cause? Leftovers Food Foundation volunteers transport unsellable but still edible food from donors directly to service agencies. Rescuing food can be as convenient as stopping off at a local business on your way home. Choose the time, date, and location that work best for you. A valid drivers license, access to a personal vehicle and a mobile phone to access the app are required.

You can brighten a senior’s day and have fun at the same time this Spring. Green Acres Foundation is looking for Biker Volunteers, Green Acres has tandem electric assisted bikes (tricycles actually) and are looking for Biker Volunteers interested in peddling their residents around. This would be weather dependent and involves all the Lethbridge lodges. This gets the residents out for some fresh air, a little exercise if they choose, and most importantly, to enjoy conversation or reminiscing with you, the driver of the bike.

BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS VARIOUS VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Game On Mentor is part of Game On! which is a group mentoring program providing boys and young men ages 9 to 14 with information and support to make informed choices about a range of healthy lifestyle practices. Game On! consists of seven mentoring sessions, held over a 7-week period within school facilities. Each 1-hour long session is coordinated around four themes: physical activity, healthy eating, self-esteem, and communication skills. As a Big Brother or Big Sister, you commit to spending a few hours each week with a child in their community who needs extra support. All of the matches are based on compatibility, so “Bigs” and their “Littles’’ are free to do any mutually enjoyed activity. As a Go Girls In-Person Mentor you will be a facilitator of a group run at schools. The group runs for seven weeks, once a week for approximately one hour. Group sizes can range from 5-10 youth participants.
