HELEN SCHULER NATURE CENTRE – COULEE CLEAN-UP VOLUNTEERS

If you like nature, this is for you. Join the Coulee Clean-Up. This is a great way for individual­s or groups to get involved if you want to dedicate a few hours a year. Help to preserve and protect Lethbridge’s River Valley environmen­t by removing garbage and debris from natural areas.

WATERTON LAKES NATIONAL PARK – iNATURALIS­T VOLUNTEERS

Searching for that picture perfect volunteer opportunit­y? Use your photograph­y skills and love of nature to volunteer as a self-guided citizen scientist for Waterton Lakes National Park. Discover what other citizen scientists are finding or use iNaturalis­t to ID a species you may not recognize. Using the free mobile app, report any species (big or small) you see and their location. Take a photo and send it in. Once the app is downloaded, it doesn’t require cellular data or Wi-Fi connection.

GREEN ACRES FOUNDATION – SURVEY VOLUNTEERS

You can brighten a senior’s day and have fun at the same time this Spring. Green Acres Foundation is looking volunteers to assist seniors in completing online surveys and help people use their personal computers or ipads provided by Green Acres. Volunteers can choose shifts from May 17th, 2024 – May 27th, 2024 and be available 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and have a current criminal record check.

BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB LETHBRIDGE – YOUTH MENTOR VOLUNTEER

Can you help? BGC is looking for a Youth Mentor. As a Youth Mentor you will spend time with youth in the centre during dropin hours, form meaningful connection­s with youth, participat­e in activities with youth, having conversati­ons, and sharing the space. Activities for the evenings are a little more relaxed and focus on creating safe spaces and relationsh­ips, and usually include physical activities, tabletop games, leadership activities, discussion groups, group meals, and much more. Volunteers will require a police informatio­n check with a vulnerable sector check.

LETHBRIDGE FOOD BANK – WAREHOUSE VOLUNTEER

A few hours of your time can have a big impact. The Warehouse Intermedia­te position is needed the first two weeks of the month. Volunteers will be responsibl­e for ensuring that the intake area receives everything it needs during busy periods, as well as clearing away any obstructio­ns that may be piling up and keeping things running smoothly. Volunteers must be 16 years or older. There is some lifting involved, so any volunteers interested in the position should be capable of lifting loads up to 25 lbs repeatedly over the course of two and a half hours. Shifts are available weekdays from 9:30 a.m.-Noon or 1:00 p.m. -3:30 p.m.

LETHBRIDGE REGIONAL ACFA - EVENT VOLUNTEERS

You are sure to hit the right note with ACFA! Volunteer for Slam/Poetry night May 9th, 2024. Positions include ticket table/ welcoming or helping at the bar where Proserve is required. Assistance is also needed on May 23rd, 2024 for a concert of upcoming artists from Alberta.

PEAK SUPPORT SERVICES – COOKING, BAKING & KITCHEN FUN VOLUNTEERS

Are you a baker who would love to share homemade treats and your talents with others? Peak is looking for Cooking, Baking

& Kitchen Fun assistance. Volunteers will provide direction to individual­s with disabiliti­es and the staff providing support with the baking, recipe preparatio­n and cleanup. Applicants must be 18 years old and up and may sign up for once a week or once a month. The Day Program Cooking Class runs weekly on Wednesday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to Noon and the R Space Cooking Class on runs twice weekly on Tuesday and Thursday from10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m./1:00 p.m. Volunteers may sign up for once a week or once a month.

YMCA LETHBRIDGE – BINGO VOLUNTEERS

Calling all bingo volunteers! Volunteer are needed for May 10th, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to10:00 p.m. Volunteers will count cash and interact with players.

LETHBRIDGE FAMILY SERVICES – PROFESSION­AL MENTOR VOLUNTEERS

A lending hand can make all the difference. Profession­al mentors are required to provide support to a newcomer to Canada with foreign-earned credential­s. Help connect newcomers to the appropriat­e networks and contacts required to find meaningful employment in their fields. Assist the newcomer in navigating profession­al bodies, accreditat­ion in their fields, and any upgrading/additional schooling needed to work in their specific field of expertise.
