MILTON’S COMMUNITY OF FORWARD-LOOKING ENTREPRENEURS FUELS INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS

- Gavin Davidson

Agrowing number of tech-based startups are finding their home in Milton, ON — a thriving community located at the centre of Ontario’s Innovation Corridor, west of Toronto.

Branded as a Place of Possibility, entrepreneurs like Bobby Sagoo, President and CEO of Enertics, have gravitated to this young, highly-educated community to capitalize on the emerging opportunities they see for the adoption of their innovative solutions and machine-learning technologies.

Developing end-to-end asset management solutions is something that Sagoo’s company, Enertics, does particularly well. Founded in May 2018 from Sagoo’s home office in Milton, the company has rapidly grown, developed partnerships with local industrial and academic institutions, and moved into a larger office space at the Milton Education Village (MEV) Innovation Centre.

“Enertics is currently working on a national and international pilot project which aims to deploy our solutions in both local and foreign markets,” says Sagoo. “With the help of Milton’s Economic Development team, we are using the talent pool in Milton

and at the MEV Innovation Centre to build our export platform.”

Enertics is the latest technology-driven company in residence at the MEV Innovation Centre — Milton’s hub for entrepreneurs to collaborate, learn, and access key resources to grow their businesses. With one of the highest STEM-educated workforces in the GTA, Milton is the ideal home for companies to benefit from access to niche talent and a community of innovative entrepreneurs.

“To be positioned for success, tech-intensive start-ups need to be surrounded by a technology-focused community,” explains Rick Stomphorst, co-founder of Silicon Halton. “Together with partners like Silicon Halton, Halton Region Small Business Centre, and Haltech, the MEV Innovation Centre is a gateway to a vibrant ecosystem within the local business community, providing access to like-minded innovators, potential partners, and both professional and peer advisory services.”

With its highly-skilled workforce and multiple land development opportunities, Milton has many of the attributes cherished by entrepreneurs searching for a location to establish or scale their businesses.
