How do you de­ter­mine if your soil is warm enough to plant in? You can use a ther­mome­ter or just guess I sup­pose, but wouldn’t it be hi­lar­i­ous to see your neigh­bour us­ing the Bare-Bum Test? What’s that you say? It’s pretty much how it sounds. Ac­cord­ing to lore the soil is warm enough to plant in if you can sit on it with your bare but­tocks. Yes, it may be an old wives tale, but ap­par­ently this method was in­cluded in some old gar­den­ing jour­nals. Funny or ac­cu­rate, I think I may fig­ure out a more dis­creet way to test my soil.
