Business Awards nominees announced
Medicine Hat’s economic diversity is showcased in the list of nominees for the 2015 Business Awards have, says the president of the Medicine Hat and District Chamber of Commerce.
“It’s very exciting this year and it’s something to be proud of in Medicine Hat that we have such a diverse economy ... the list of nominees is proof of that,” said Chamber president Khrista Vogt. “Everything from the small little business such as Editing Luke right up to bigger organizations, whether it’s big franchise restaurants or the Mavericks Baseball, or Brost Development.
“From a business perspective that’s something we can be really proud of.”
There are 14 categories this year, including a new category for business ethics.
“People want to deal with businesses that are ethical and have integrity,” said Vogt, about how ethics is a focus for many businesses and consumers nowadays — and this new category reflects this. It’s another way to recognize businesses for something other than their bottom line, she said.
The awards are a way for local businesses to be recognized as being leaders in Medicine Hat, said Vogt, and while vital on the local level, six categories are also further nominated on to the provincial level.
The winners of each category will be announced at the Business Awards Banquet on Oct. 16. Tickets can be purchased online at www.medicinehatchamber.com
