MHPS adds two features online to improve service delivery
The Medicine Hat Police Service announced Wednesday it is rolling out two online features to improve service delivery in the city.
The first is online reporting for minor occurrences, where loss or damage is under $5,000, and there are no suspects. For example, in cases of property or vehicle damage, graffiti, lost property, theft from vehicle or theft under $5,000. These reports can be filed online 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“The MHPS encourages citizens and visitors to our city to report all crimes that occur in Medicine Hat. This information allows us to gather a better understanding of crime trends in our community and in return improves the allocation of policing resources,” in an online release.
The second feature offered allows individuals to request a police information check online through a secure third-party payment system. PICs are often used by employers and volunteer organizations to assist with background checks of potential employees and volunteers.
Previously this process required applicants to attend the MHPS sation in person to submit and pick up.
Use of either of these online services is completely voluntary, and individuals may still attend the MHPS in person if they wish to do so.
