Wood Buffalo —

Wood Buffalo RCMP are warning people to remain vigilant due to a growing number of cases around online fraud — specifically pertaining to animal sales advertised on Facebook where down payments are requested for a puppy.

Police are reminding the public to carefully research products, services and businesses before making purchases, be wary of down payment requests, and things that may be too good to be true. As well, RCMP remind the public that Facebook is no more secure than any other site and can contain false information. People should not provide personal or banking information when making online purchases.

Grande Prairie —

Grande Prairie RCMP and EMS attended a residence in the city in the early morning, where a male victim was found with injuries, sustaining significant trauma, and was transported to hospital. The man has since been released and is expected to recover.

Ronald Ernest Gauthier, 38, of Leduc County was arrested. Police say the occurrence is an isolated incident with no risk to the public.
