Waterton RCMP still looking for owner of unique wedding band set

-

Ongoing investigation into the ownership of a unique wedding ring set has led Waterton RCMP to believe that it is likely that these rings were purchased in Vancouver in the early 1970s. They were designed by a prominent jewelry designer and considered to be extremely valuable; not only cash value but likely sentimental value.

The wedding ring set was recovered June 25 during the course of an investigation. It is not known who owns these rings, but the RCMP are committed to getting them back to their owner.

Anyone who feels that they can further identify some unique characteristic on these rings is asked to call the Pincher Creek RCMP at 403-627-6010 or Crime Stoppers by phone at 1800-222-8477(TIPS), or by internet at www.tipsubmit.com.

RCMP are looking for four or five suspects after an armed robbery at a convenience store parking lot on July 6.

A man sitting in his car was approached by a man wearing a face covering and brandishing a firearm, demanding cash. When the victim refused, the suspect assaulted him and stole his cell phone. The suspect got into a 2006 Buick Lucerne, with possibly up to four more suspects.

This vehicle is believed to be stolen. Police arrived, and the suspect car fled at a high speed, with police terminating pursuit due to concerns for public safety.

In what is believed to be a completely separate incident Redcliff RCMP arrested a woman for armed robbery earlier that day.

Police responded to a 911 call at 9:15 a.m. at a convenience store, after a woman entered the store brandishing a firearm and demanding cash and cigarettes. The suspect assaulted a staff person and ran from the store, throwing the firearm into a waiting truck driven by a second female suspect, who fled the scene without the first suspect.

The staff person detained the first suspect until police arrived. This staff person suffered minor cuts and bruises due to the altercation.

RCMP took the woman into custody and located the suspect truck abandoned nearby with a rifle inside. The truck had been reported stolen out of Rocky Mountain House. One witness reported that they may have heard a child in the truck though no child was seen, and police cannot confirm if there was a child involved.
