Kyle Chyzowski’s three-run bomb punctuated an eightrun second inning for the White Rock All Stars and helped sink the Port Arthur Nationals 23-4 Sunday and leave White Rock standing as the only remaining undefeated squad at the Canadian Little League Championship with a 3-0 record.

If the name sounds familiar, it’s because Chyzowski’s cousin, Ryan Chyzowski, laces them up as a member of the Medicine Hat Tigers.

“It's actually really cool. It’s nice to watch him play,” said Chyzowski, adding he hopes to return that favour to his cousin this week. “He said he might come down to watch a few games.”

Chyzowski’s long ball was one of four White Rock home runs during the game at Lovell McDonnell Field, which sent the Port Arthur Nationals into the loss column at 3-1.

After staking a 3-2 lead on a 2-RBI double from Lachlan Scardina and a run-scoring single by Grayson Frers, the All Stars kick their offence into overdrive — scoring 20 over the next two frames to end the game in four.

Reid Hefflick led White Rock with 4 RBI in a 3-for-4 outing while Scardina was 4for-5 with 2 RBI.

Jack Pineau drove in two runs for Port Arthur on a firstinning home run then Ethan Dyll scored on a wild pitch in the second and Liam Willmore had an RBI single in the third.

Glace Bay 10, Regina 0

The Glace Bay Colonels earned their first win in a loud way on Sunday.

The Nova Scotia-based squad exploded for a seven-run first inning before tacking on a run in each of the next three frames to seal a 10-0 mercy rule victory over the Regina Kiwanis Nationals. The win puts Glace Bay at 1-2 in the tournament, while Regina fell to 0-3 with the loss.

Colonels centre fielder Robert Gillis got the ball rolling early with a lead-off home run on the fifth pitch of the game. Glace Bay went on to send 10 more hitters to the dish in the frame, collecting four hits while benefiting from a pair of Regina errors for seven runs.

The Colonels split the mound between three arms, all surrendering just one hit en route to the victory. Hudson Clarke collected the win after allowing just three to reach base through the first two innings, then Kolby Campbell put up a zero in the third before Kyle Locke closed out the game in the fourth.

Regina’s Jaxon Weir was handed the loss after surrendering six runs — three earned — on three hits in the first.

Diamond Academy 18, Medicine Hat 3

Medicine Hat suffered a setback at the hands of Quebec’s Mirabel Diamond Academy on Saturday.

Louis-Felix Anderson led the push with a staggering 7 RBI — including a pair of three-run home runs — to help Diamond send Medicine Hat off the field early in an 183, four-inning loss.

Medicine Hat held a 2-1 lead after the first inning thanks to an RBI error off the bat of Kevan Schafer and a run-scoring double fromof Trevin Ressler, but Quebec fired back with two runs in the second and three more in the third before running away with the game in a 10-run fourth.

Noah Derouin added a solo home run for Medicine Hat in the second, but the host’s offence was stymied by winning pitcher Robert Bordeaux, who allowed one run on four hits through two innings.

Schafer took the loss for Medicine Hat after allowing eight runs on eight hits through 2 and 1/3 innings. Wyatt Bishop and Gavin Smith both had two hits for the hosts.

Port Arthur 12, Lethbridge 1

Liam Willmore shouldered the load for the Port Arthur Nationals on Saturday.

The Nats starting arm held the Lethbridge Southwest All Stars to four hits through fourplus innings while driving in 4 RBI to lead his squad to a 12-1 victory and a 3-0 record.

While Lethbridge’s pitching staff managed to keep one of the hottest offences of the tournament in check in the early going, Willmore made sure it didn’t matter. The Thunder Bay product struck out three without allowing a hit through the first two frames while driving in the opening run with a double in the first inning.

Willmore struck again for another RBI two-bagger that sent Mike Danchuk to third, then Nolan Height doubled to bring them both home.

Willmore then singled in the fifth and came around to score on a wild pitch before coming back up and hitting a 2-RBI single later in the frame — capping off a six-run inning that also featured an RBI single from Evan Lachimea and a 2RBI double off the bat of Jack Pineau.

Lethbridge finally managed to chase Willmore in the fifth after a Riley Pearce single and an error put two men on to start the inning. Jackson Dubinsky entered in relief and allowed an RBI single to Lyle Steadman — with the run charged to Willmore — before closing out the mercy rule victory.

White Rock 15, Glace Bay 6

The White Rock All Stars shook off a rough start and climbed to 2-0 with a 15-6 win over the Glace Bay Colonels Saturday.

The Colonels jumped all over White Rock after holding them off the board in the top of the first. Brayden McDonald, Hudson Clarke, Kolby Campbell, Wyatt Wells and Brady Doucette all registered an RBI in the frame for five runs on three hits and a pair of fielding errors, but White Rock immediately returned the favour in the second.

A sacrifice fly from Ty Flvet put the All Stars on the board, then Ben Chowen followed it up with a 2-RBI base knock before Robert Orr and Chase Marshall added a pair of runscoring singles to knot up the game.

The Colonels regained a narrow lead on a double from Dawson Byrne in the bottom of the second, but White Rock once again answered in bunches.

Ryan Hefflick evened things back up with a single in the fourth, then Lachlan Scardina laced a three-run shot over the outfield fence to take his team’s first lead into the break.

But they didn’t stop there. Hefflick struck again for a 2-RBI single in the fifth then Orr put the game away with another three-run long ball in the sixth.
