DILLS - Senior Reminiscence - An Activity of Oral History Sharing, March 28, 10 a.m.-noon
Bring an old prop from your past and start reminiscing what it means to you. This session offered by MHFS will offer an opportunity for the participants to bring a prop, your grandfather’s tobacco pipe, a photo, a name of a song (we have internet), an unusual kitchen utensil from the past or any item that you can get through the door and have fun reminiscing with the group. Reminiscing therapy has been around since 1980’s. It’s different from remembering and doesn’t put someone on the spot. When a picture is used or a prop, participants can share their feelgood/pleasant memories with others. So, bring your “Brain Album,” let’s have fun reminiscing what sparked you!

What is Bunnock?
Bunnock is a game that was played in western Canada in the early days. It is also called Game of Bones. In this game, no special equipment or skills are required. Anyone who can gently toss a baseball will enjoy Bunnock.
If you are interested in learning more, or giving it a try, come down to the StrathconaCentre Fridays at 1 p.m. New players are always welcome.
Pocket Talkers
Are you having a hard time hearing the conversations around you? Try using a Pocket Talker! Pocket Talkers are great little devices that you can use when you are at the Strathcona Centre. Simply place the microphone on the table when you are playing cards or having lunch and either use a head set or place your tcoil enabled hearing aid to the T position. The pocket talker will eliminate a lot of the background noise that may affect your hearing. You can check them out from the receptionist for the duration of your visit.
