Reeve play games with each “Educating Rita” (1983) An excellent Caine plays a weary literature professor whose professional passion is reignited by a surprising new student (Julie Walters). “Hannah and Her Sisters” (1986) Caine earned his first Oscar for his wonderful performance as a man in love with his sister-in-law (Barbara Hershey) in Woody Allen’s comedy-drama. “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” (1988) Caine and Steve Martin are a hugely enjoyable team in this remake of the earlier “Bedtime Story,” about partners in swindling who target an heiress (Glenne Headly). “The Muppet Christmas Carol” (1992) Caine is – as one might expect – Ebenezer Scrooge in this beloved rendering of the Dickens classic that features Jim Henson’s creations in the other major roles.
