91-year-old woman dies after being found outside long-term care home in Calgary

Calgary police say they are investigat­ing the death of a 91-year-old woman who was found in freezing temperatur­es outside a long-term care home in the city.

Police say they were called to Cedars Villa Extendicar­e on Monday at about 4:45 a.m. for reports of a missing person.

They say a 91-year-old woman was found outside in the grounds of the facility.

Police say the woman was treated by paramedics for exposure to the cold, but she died a short time later.

Calgary police says investigat­ors are working with staff at the facility to determine the circumstan­ces around the resident’s death.

Cedars Villa Extendicar­e was not immediatel­y available for comment.
