-

A driver has been served with impaired driving sanctions including a licence suspension and vehicle seizure, as well as a ticket for careless driving and other offences, following a multi-vehicle collision at the intersection of Valley View Drive and Fifth Street SW on Monday morning.

Medicine Hat Police Service responded to the scene of the collision at approximately 11:34 a.m., according to an MHPS release, and revealed following an investigation that a 2003 Ford truck was travelling east on Valley View at a high rate of speed before losing control while turning right onto Fifth Street. The truck then collided with a Honda Accord at a stop sign, which was then pushed back into another parked vehicle.

After the first collision, the driver of the Ford backed up and attempted to leave the scene and veered off the road, colliding with two more parked vehicles, one of which was then pushed into a third. The truck then came to rest disabled against a tree.

The driver was found to be impaired by alcohol.

Four of the six vehicles involved in the collision needed to be towed from the scene, however there were no physical injuries reported. Damages are estimated at $25,000.
