Police station open to public again after windows smashed last week

-

The Medicine Hat Police Service building is once again open for public access.

A week ago a number of ground floor windows were smashed and public access had to be temporarily suspended.

Early on the morning of

Dec. 23, a 30-year-old male outside the building used a hammer to smash the windows at the entrance to the police station and the windows of the museum and the boardroom in the same building.

The person was taken into custody.

The cost of the damage is estimated to be about $50,000.

Until the windows could be repaired the public was asked to use alternative means to contact police. The windows are now repaired and regular service has recommenced.
