Another week rolls by with no influenza

-

More than 1.5 million Albertans have now been vaccinated against influenza for this season — 96,013 in the South.

There are still no recorded cases of influenza in the province, and so few cases across Canada that it has still not officially declared a flu season.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s chief medical officer of health, has stated that the number of lab tests done this season for flu are more than ever before.

Last year by the first week in February, across the whole province, there had been 5,523 lab-confirmed cases of influenza A and B and 23 deaths.
