COVID outbreak at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital declared over by AHS

-

A COVID-19 outbreak in acute care at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital is now over.

On Jan. 14 an outbreak was declared on one unit at MHRH after three patients linked to this specific unit tested positive for COVID-19. Two health-care workers linked to this unit also tested positive, for a total of five cases.

Later two deaths followed, a male patient in his 80s and a female patient in her 70s.

There have been no further cases of COVID-19 and enough time has lapsed for the outbreak to be declared over.

According to the Alberta Health Services website there are currently no acute care outbreaks in any health-care facilities in the south zone, which includes Lethbridge and Medicine Hat.
